LGBTQ Affairs

Here at the university there is a whole website dedicated to the LGBTQ community. On this website you will find a surplus of resources including: Safe Zone Event Calendar (some of which are tons of fun with free food!) Programs Clubs & Organizations Resources that extend outside of the LGBTQ community. When I was in the closet I avoided these resources, once I came out I gathered the courage to start attending some of these events and joining the support groups while also exploring the other resources available. My biggest regret is that I didn't start becoming involved with any of this until I came out (Junior Year). My advice to anyone reading this blog, if you are questioning, in the closet or just curious to see what its all about, you should go! There is nothing to be afraid of it is a safe space only. I have met so many awesome people and gotten so much support and I'm forever grateful. Attached below is...

Clubs & Organizations

At the University of Arizona there is over 600 clubs and organizations that students can become involved with! There is 5 categories that you can choose from based on the sector you would like to be involved in: Academic Cultural/International Departmental Environmental Health Obviously I can't include all 600 clubs in a blog post but the university has a very organized website that I have attached below so you can see your options! https://arizona.campuslabs.com/engage/Organizations

My Story

Coming to this school I was in the closet and I knew that Greek life wouldn’t permit gay people (whether they wanted to admit it or not). During rush I would occupy myself with other things so that no one noticed that I wasn’t participating in any of the rush activities.  Its never fun feeling like you do not fit in. My freshman year was difficult because of all the rushing going on, I felt so awkward. I have never felt more left out of anything. I had been bullied in school but this was a different feeling.   Now that I’m out of the closet and completely okay with who I am, I have a different perspective. I’ve had such a blast here the past four years and I didn’t need Greek life to accomplish that. The best part is that a lot of my friends are in Greek life so I’ve kind of gotten to experience both worlds.    I made this blog so that people like me, who don’t feel like Greek life is their thing don’t cross the University of Arizona of their list because this schoo...
